Attention Internet Explorer Users!!

November 14th, 2013

Until Twitter fixes its URL direct message bug, we are using a format that has three slashes after the http. Here is an example: http:///———

If you paste this into Firefox, Chrome or Safari, those browsers will recognize that there is an extra slash (“/”), and will correctly process the link.

Unfortunately, Internet Explorer does not. Meaning if you are using Internet Explorer, you will have to manually remove one of the slashes after you have pasted the link.

Once Twitter resolves their issue with URLs in direct messages, we will immediately switch back to a normal link, with none of the copy/paste hoo ha.

We appreciate your patience in this matter.

Twitter’s Theoretically Temporary URL Messaging Ban Due To Massive Wave Of DM Spam

October 17th, 2013

More from Tech Crunch on Twitter’s DM problems.

We’re HOPING Twitter resolves this VERY, VERY soon.

Twitter Says A ‘Technical Issue’ Is Preventing URLs From Being Sent In Direct Messages For Some

October 17th, 2013

From Tech Crunch:

“Earlier this afternoon Twitter users began experiencing difficulty sending URLs or ‘links’ via Direct Message. Depending on the client used, error messages popped up that indicated the DMs being sent included links to ‘malware’, or simply indicated that the message could not be sent.”

This is what is impacting the validation links in TrueTwit’s DMs. Hopefully, Twitter will have this issue resolved soon. Very soon.

TrueTwit Service Disruption

June 21st, 2012

TrueTwit was off the air today from around 11:00am to 5:00pm US Central Daylight time. The disruption was caused by a severe Twitter service disruption, which we pretty much rely on to bring you our services. Engineering is looking at why we didn’t fail more gracefully and the root cause has already been identified. Thank you for your patience during this time.

We are back!

Ahhh, the Internets.

When zombies attack…

March 7th, 2011

As you have guessed, we were down for about 24 hours.  We would like to blame a massive zombie attack in the data center, but unfortunately no one believes that.  The reality is that experienced a major hardware malfunction on the server that hosts TrueTwit.    We apologize for the downtime but we had to wait for a repair facility to open before we could fix the issue.  The TrueTwit team will be taking steps in the next few weeks to avoid this amount of downtime in the future.

Thank you for your patience!!!
