Twitter API causing technical difficulties

TrueTwit is experiencing technical difficulties due to a bug in the Twitter API.  This bug is affecting TrueTwit’s ability to access Twitter to obtain follower lists.  We are not the only site affected – apparently the bug is breaking other applications.  Those who are interested in technical details can follow the fun on the Twitter Development Forum posting.

This bug unfortunately means that new users can not sign up for TrueTwit.  Judging from the entries on the Twitter Development Forum, a fix should be made shortly.  We will keep you posted on further developments.

TrueTwit 1.4.8 Released

We’ve released a new version of TrueTwit with some minor bug fixes.  Nothing much the user can see except we’ve tuned up the “Total Verification Requests Sent Today” display.

Twitter has fixed the problems affecting their API allowing TrueTwit to start removing followers that are suspended or that you blocked. We are glad this is back, as you probably are too!

All Back In Order

Hi TrueTwitterers,

If you didn’t notice the “maintenance mode” page today, we had a little server hiccup that made everybody’s life more interesting. It looks like a squirrel made a nest in our database server over the summer, and we didn’t notice until now. No really, we had a database go corrupt on us and we had to restore everything from backups and log files.

For the most part, everything is in order. We got almost all of the users reconfigured, with a few exceptions for some users that signed up in the last 24 hours. For those that need to recreate their accounts, we apologize. All you will need to do is recreate your TrueTwit account and all will be back to normal.

Again, we hope that doesn’t happen twice, and are glad that this happened now with the service being so new, rather than later down the road.
