All Back In Order
July 24th, 2009Hi TrueTwitterers,
If you didn’t notice the “maintenance mode” page today, we had a little server hiccup that made everybody’s life more interesting. It looks like a squirrel made a nest in our database server over the summer, and we didn’t notice until now. No really, we had a database go corrupt on us and we had to restore everything from backups and log files.
For the most part, everything is in order. We got almost all of the users reconfigured, with a few exceptions for some users that signed up in the last 24 hours. For those that need to recreate their accounts, we apologize. All you will need to do is recreate your TrueTwit account and all will be back to normal.
Again, we hope that doesn’t happen twice, and are glad that this happened now with the service being so new, rather than later down the road.
If you have any issues that need to be resolved with your account, please send us an email to: info at truetwit dot com, or send us a message at our Twitter profile @GoTrueTwit.

If You Could Add One Feature to TrueTwit, What Would It Be?
July 21st, 2009We first want to take the time to thank everybody on Twitter for offering helpful suggestions on this new project. TrueTwit is a product somewhere between alpha/beta mode, but we’re glad to say that all of the features are working. Of course, if that’s not the case, let us know at @GoTrueTwit!
Now what would you do if…
Our team has a big list of new features that we are working out. But we want to hear from you! What do you think would be a great feature to add to the TrueTwit service? Would it be dashboard improvements? Overall usability? Additional spam controls? A mobile version of the site? More languages? Get off of this plain vanilla WordPress template?
We really want to know. So please drop a line below and let’s start a conversation. If you suggest something we implement, we’ll drop a link to your site or do something else nice for you.
Stay True.
Stop Twitter Spammers with TrueTwit
July 15th, 2009Every day, reports highlight the growing problem of Twitter spam. If you’ve been on Twitter for more than a day, you know it too – separating spammers from true followers can be almost unmanageable.
TrueTwit is a Twitter validation service that verifies the humanity of those who follow you. Here’s how it works:
- You sign up to TrueTwit.
- From then on, any new Twitter followers automatically will receive a direct message (DM) requesting that they validate through a unique link.
- The follower will fill out a CAPTCHA form, showing that they are human and not an automated bot.
- When they validate, you receive an email indicating that they are TrueTwit verified!
If a new follower is already a registered TrueTwit user, they will be authorized immediately. They won’t have to do anything, and you will be notified that they are now following your updates.
Currently, this is alpha/beta software – that means there are bugs to be ironed out. We also have many features that will be rolled out over the next few weeks. Please keep in touch for new developments! Please offer any suggestions on what you would like to see in TrueTwit. From the feedback we’ve been hearing, this is a service long overdue.
