Stop Twitter Spammers with TrueTwit

July 15th, 2009

Every day, reports highlight the growing problem of Twitter spam. If you’ve been on Twitter for more than a day, you know it too – separating spammers from true followers can be almost unmanageable.
TrueTwit is a Twitter validation service that verifies the humanity of those who follow you. Here’s how it works:

  1. You sign up to TrueTwit.
  2. From then on, any new Twitter followers automatically will receive a direct message (DM) requesting that they validate through a unique link.
  3. The follower will fill out a CAPTCHA form, showing that they are human and not an automated bot.
  4. When they validate, you receive an email indicating that they are TrueTwit verified!

If a new follower is already a registered TrueTwit user, they will be authorized immediately. They won’t have to do anything, and you will be notified that they are now following your updates.

Currently, this is alpha/beta software – that means there are bugs to be ironed out. We also have many features that will be rolled out over the next few weeks. Please keep in touch for new developments! Please offer any suggestions on what you would like to see in TrueTwit. From the feedback we’ve been hearing, this is a service long overdue.
